Almond milk (Sữa hạnh nhân)

I can’t believe I didn’t try to make almond milk earlier.   Sometimes I buy almond milk in carton from supermarket but it really can’t compare with homemade almond milk.   The home made version is so fragrant, creamy and refreshing. And the important thing is when you made it yourself; you know that it doesn’t contain any preservative or hidden sugar, which can REALLY upset your scale.

Almond milk is not difficult to make, it just requires some patience but the result is really amazing.   I didn’t add any sweetening element in my almond milk but you can easily sweeten it with one or two dried dates. I highly recommend this recipe.

Ingredient:

250gr almond

5 cups of water (1250ml)

Method:

Soak almonds in water over night or 12 hours

Rinse the almonds and peel the skins off

Put them into a blender; add 5 cups of water then process until smooth.

Lay a big muslin cloth over a big bowl; pour the liquid in the cloth and squeeze out the almond milk.

Store in the fridge.

Almond milk will last about 3 to 4 day in the fridge. The milk look separate naturally after a while, just give it a good shake before using.
